Quite honestly, I suck at eating healthy. No joke my daily food intake consists of: Cereal & latte each morning, banana, yogurt & ensure for lunch (sometimes a blueberry muffin) and then pasta for dinner. Every.Single.Day. Horrible right? Even worse is I have a higher risk of becoming diabetic because I had gestational diabetes while pregnant with Ellie and that increases your risk of diabetes.
For a while now, I've felt a little push to start eating healthy and it's just now as we prepare to live in a tent that I'm beginning to implement changes in my eating. My plan is to basically go on the Original Food Plan or the Daniel Fast. I'm not doing this to fast or diet to lose weight because if anything, I need to gain weight. I'm doing this mainly for my health. To live a healthy life for God, for myself and for my family. I've had a lot of 'brain fog' lately and black outs and I chalk it up to the way I've been eating so I'm excited to see how changing my eating habits might affect that.
For anyone unfamiliar with the Original Food Plan or Daniel fast, it's basically about eating the things that God put on this earth in the very beginning for us to eat which were things that grew from plants (Gen 1:29-30) but in our case, with the exception of some meat for more protein. Ellie is allergic to Peanuts and has to stay away from tree nuts so I can't give those to her. Macy get Eczema pretty bad so I'm interested to see how this change may affect her skin. So starting hopefully within the next week, We'll only be eating:
vegetables, fruit, legumes, whole grains, and nuts.
My taste buds steer away from all that healthy stuff so I'm praying that God would change that ;) Luckily I already love fruit and have began enjoying some veggies so it might actually go a lot easier than I expect.
I would LOVE for you to share any recipes you have that follow the rules of the original food plan!

Hey Shannon it's Tessa. :) don't worry about diabetes it can be cured through food! And eczema as well! Look for things like the body ecology diet, which focuses on cleaning out your guts, removing bad bacteria and replacing it with good bacteria. I just started fermenting some food like pickles and salsa (which is delicious btw) and making kefir (liquid yogurt that is soooo healthy for you) all with raw milk haha
ReplyDeleteThe food at they sell in the stores from the junk to the meat to the veggies, it all has bad stuff in it. Anything on a sticker on a fruit or veggie that starts with 4 (I believe) Is organic and anything that starts with an 8 is genetically engineered. I think 5 is just normal.
When buying meats and dairy be aware that they are pumped with tons of hormones and antibiotics that are terrible for you (expecially growing kids).
Nutrition is sooo important. What people don't realize is anything can be cured with food! Even cancer!!
Glad you're searching for something healthy!! :) if you want recipes or more information let me know! Keep up the research!
