DIY-in it up!

So I've had this new found obsession with wanting to take old furniture and refurbish it. I've searched hundreds of blogs looking at the transformations of old dressers, dining tables, tables, chairs, etc and it has inspired me to try my own hand at doing some of these things too. I've searched craigslist religiously everyday for cheap or free furniture items that I could make over. I need a big house just to find places to put different pieces of furniture in :)
 
I've come up with a list of several projects that i want to do to make my little apartment feel more like home and over the course of completing them, I'll post my before & after pics. For now, Here is one that I just completed:

I found a cheap wooden frame at goodwill. It was originally an oak color but I painted it white then sprayed the plastic piece inside the frame (could also use glass but since it came with plastic, that's what I used) with chalkboard spray paint, then hung it up on the outside of my door. Now I can write little messages for people :)

I also found a dining table on craiglist for $20!! I was so excited. I begged Beau to get it, so we did and I still can't believe I got it that cheap! It's perfect!

 

It's a little beat up but that's just what I was looking for. I'm going to refurbish it and give it a makeover. It also only came with 3 chairs so I'm going to build a bench for extra seating. I can't wait to get started! Stay tuned for more projects to come!!
