We got the keys to our home today and can start moving in asap. While it's just a rental home, we are excited because it's our first *house*. We've only lived in apartments since my husband and I got married so this is a big step up for us.
Built in 1941, this is a Tudor style home which is most commonly called a Tudor Revival or Medieval Revival home.. which would explain the dark would trim you can find all around the house. I wasn't too fond of that feature, as I really love white trim, but it's growing on me. And I love that it's craftsman and has a vintage character throughout the house, such as old old door knobs that use skeleton keys to lock them. I'll show you those more in depth once we start moving in.
(I badly need a wide angle lens)
The chimney goes pretty high, you can't tell in this picture.
Below is the living room. Check out the dark wood trim. I love color so I need to figure out how to bring lots of color to this room. I can take on a challenge :)
Dining Room - See the ultra vintage light? Not diggin' it so much:
There is a steep stairway that goes upstairs to the girls' rooms. While showing my mom the house yesterday, Ellie got too close to the stairs and tumbled all the way down. It was pretty scary but she was just fine. We'll be investing in some sort of half door to block the stairs to prevent this from happening again.
Well, there's a little bit of a preview of our new place. Can't wait to get in there and start decorating and showing the after pictures. Stay tuned!
